Starting a Garden: A Beginner’s Guide to Growing Your Own Vegetables

It is always fun and productive to start a vegetable garden that will not only give you fresh vegetables but also beautify your compound.

Choose the Right Location

Choose a location that is exposed to sunlight for at least six hours in a day and has good drainage soils.

Plan Your Garden

Start by planting vegetables that are relatively easy to cultivate such as tomatoes, lettuce and carrots. It is recommended to use raised beds or containers to ensure that you have a better control over the quality of the soil.

Prepare the Soil

Add compost to your soil to enhance the fertility of your soil as well as the structure of the soil.

Water Wisely

Water your plants often and moderately but do not overwater your plants to the extent that they become soggy.

Harvest and Enjoy

As soon as your vegetables are ready, it is advisable to pick them as soon as possible in order to enjoy their taste. That was a lot of work! Congratulations!
